All proceeds from the Greater Middlesex Conference Basketball Coaches Association’s 24th annual Senior All-Star doubleheader were donated to The Marisa Tufaro Foundation.

The girls and boys all-star games, featuring the league’s top high school upperclassmen, was contested March 28 at Woodbridge High School, which donated its facilities and whose staff volunteered to host the event.

“It’s an honor for Woodbridge to be hosting an all-star game like this for such a worthy cause,” Woodbridge girls basketball coach Bobby Timinski told the Home News Tribune. “All of us have the absolute most admiration for the Tufaro family and to be able to help in a small way is the least we can do.”

Following is an excerpt from a thank you letter Greg emailed to all of the league’s boys and girls head basketball coaches shortly after the event:

Words can’t express my family’s sincere gratitude for your adopting our daughter’s foundation as the beneficiary of the Greater Middlesex Conference senior All-Star boys and girls basketball games.

My wife, Cyndi, and I attended the doubleheader and were greatly moved by the league’s incredible generosity and benevolence. We wish we had the opportunity to thank each of you and your players in person.

Rather than attempt to express in writing our deep appreciation for your remarkable donation to Marisa’s foundation, know that we are committed to thanking you tenfold through the organization’s mission and charitable endeavors.

The foundation, which will assist children in need throughout the greater Middlesex County area, is a fitting way to honor Marisa and keep alive her spirit (those of you who may be unfamiliar with Marisa’s story, can read about her here.

The foundation allows us, as parents, to give back to the residents of a community that has forever provided our family with overwhelming love and support.

Once again, we can never find the perfect way to thank all of the GMC basketball coaches and players for what they have done to honor Marisa and keep alive her spirit.

Cyndi and I can only hope all of you and your players truly understand how much your collective efforts through the All-Star games meant to our family.
