The students and staff at Edison’s Martin Luther King Elementary School partnered with AAK USA, Inc. to collect coloring books and crayons – all of which were placed in canvas bags – for distribution to Emergency Department patients of Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Sherrie Lubonski, a kindergarten teacher at the school, and her husband Mark, who is under the employ of AAK USA, Inc., which is located in Edison, spearheaded the coloring book drive. AAK USA Inc. secured a generous grant for the canvas bags.

Student council representatives from Martin Luther King and employees of AAK USA, Inc. stuffed more than 200 canvas bags with coloring books and crayons.

Martin Luther King Principal Diane Wilton joined the Lubonskis and Cyndi Tufaro to deliver the donations to the children’s hospital earlier this week.

Kate Busch, a certified Child Life Specialist, accepted the donations, which totaled seven boxes, on the hospital’s behalf.
