Sherrie Lubonski, a kindergarten teacher from Martin Luther King Elementary School in Edison, joined her husband, Mark, and their daughter, Alexa, in becoming “Marisa’s Missionaries” by preparing a home-cooked meal for residents of the Ronald McDonald House of Central Jersey on behalf of The Marisa Tufaro Foundation Sunday morning.
The Lubonskis cooked a quiche and prepared a fruit salad inside the Ronald McDonald House kitchen. They also brought bagels, cookies and water. Their act of generosity was particularly meaningful for Alexa, a junior in LaSalle University’s nursing program. The Lubonskis made their prepared meal welcoming with attention to detail including flowers and coordinated paper products.
Our foundation’s commitment to being a resource for the Ronald McDonald House of Central Jersey stems from the impact volunteers and donors made on Marisa’s parents, Greg and Cyndi, when they were month-long residents of the Ronald McDonald House of Philadelphia immediately following Marisa’s birth. Cyndi explained that experience in a previous blog post.
On July 30, Greg and Cyndi commemorated what would have been Marisa’s 14th birthday by providing lunch and dinner to the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Central Jersey.
No funds from The Marisa Tufaro Foundation were used for any of the donated meals the Lubonski and Tufaro families provided.
Anyone interested in providing a lunch or dinner for residents of the Ronald McDonald House of Central Jersey on behalf of The Marisa Tufaro Foundation, please email the foundation at email@example.com, and one of our volunteers will help facilitate your generous donation.
The house is located on 145 Somerset Street, across from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
On behalf of our foundation’s leadership, we extend our sincere gratitude and deep appreciation to the Lubonski family, while joining them in sending well-wishes to the families currently staying at the Ronald McDonald House.
