The amazing video below from Emmy Award-nominee Brandon Uhlig, which includes a wonderful voiceover and commentary from Metuchen High School athletics trainer Michelle McCorkle, captures the quintessence of Metuchen High School’s second-annual Proving Ground Team Building Challenge and Mud Run, of which our foundation was a beneficiary.

The event was held Saturday at Metuchen High School. More than 200 student-athletes participated. We posted a detailed preview of the event on our website earlier this month.

Athletics Director John Cathcart and McCorkle spearheaded the wildly successful team building challenge, which was the result of a collaborative effort between the entire Metuchen school district – including schools superintendent Dr. Vincent Caputo, high school principal Bruce Peragallo, the Metuchen Board of Education, the Metuchen High School Parent-Teacher Organization – and the borough’s fire department, police department and emergency medical technicians.

Audrey Hausser, president of the high school’s parent-teacher organization who orchestrated a silent auction through the benevolence of several generous donors, and varsity football player Frederik Krebs, whose Eagle Scout project was to design, build and solicit donations for building materials to construct an amazing tire wall for the obstacle course, were among the event’s multitude of unsung heroes.

Our foundation is eternally grateful to all involved, especially the student-athletes who competed and coaches who volunteered, for their efforts.

In addition to Uhlig’s video, which appears below, Metuchen High School sophomore Eddie Kalegi, a rising star among student journalists statewide, produced an outstanding podcast of the event, while recent Metuchen High School graduate Dylan Manfre, who is taking his writing talents to Rider University, compiled a photo gallery and will have a story about the Mud Run in the Metuchen Mirror later this month.
